When you hear the words 'hula hooping' images of the 1950's craze or slender and talented circus acts spring to mind. However Hula Hooping has come a long way since those flimsy 'whammo' hoops of yesteryear. 'Hooping' as it is called in America is for everyone, all ages, all colours, and all races. Modern Day Dance hoops are larger and heavier, hand made and decorated with grippy and colorful tape. If you could not hoop when you were younger then with the right hoop you'll be hooping and laughing in no time at all, I promise you...

Hula Hoop Aerobics, which is just a combination of very basic hoop dance moves to music, seems set to be the next big fitness trend. It is not surprising that everyone loves hoop dance because not only is it a fantastic muscle building aerobic workout but it is also incredibly good fun. You will sweat, laugh and burn tons of calories as you spin that hoop around you - finding your own groove.

Hooping also helps to improve your posture - the hoop massages and works the core abdominal muscles because unless you stand straight the hoop will fall or spin in a challenging way. As you progress with your hooping skills your hand eye co-ordination and your left brain/ right brain relationship will improve. Before you know it you'll be hooping on every part of your body and you'll be feeling the pleasure of those endorphins spinning around the circuit of your body - bliss.
